Trespasser Arrested in Royal Shores

3/28/2014

On Thursday evening, 3/27, HPD officers arrested a high school teen and towed the teenagers truck to an impound facility. The charges were criminal mischief and evading police. The pick-up truck was driven across the yard of a resident in the Courts causing deep ruts in the grass. HPD responded to the resident's call and confronted three youths as they tried to exit the Friendswood Development Company property north of the Courts section of Royal Shores. One person was arrested and the other two escaped into the wooded areas. HPD has the names and contact information for the two that were not apprehended on site.

The incident took place between 9 and 11 pm and several residents, including RSCA Directors Graves and McCarty, observed the arrest and towing. The Board applauds the prompt action taken by the resident. Participation by homeowners are key to enhancing the security in Royal Shores. In this case, the resident called 911 and HPD's response time was sufficient to catch the perpetrator. In a separate incident Thursday evening, a vehicle drove across our landscape median at the entrance of our community near Willow Terrace creating large ruts and probably damaging the RSCA sprinkler system. Repairs will be made early next week. These incidents are reminders that security in Royal Shores is a responsibility of all of us. Again, special thanks to the resident, for calling HPD. In addition to 911, the non-emergency HPD hotline is 713-884-3131.
