Community Update

12/9/2013

Royal Shores Residents:

-At a Board of Directors meeting on 12/8/13, the Board of Directors made, seconded, and passed a motion that authorized the BOD to notify the Kings Point Community Association and the Reserve at Kings Point Community Association that the Royal Shores Community Association (RSCA) is cancelling the existing agreement relating to Sharing Certain Meeting Room and Pool Costs Agreement dated July 1, 2010, by giving 60 day notice of its intention to do so. This action ratifies the recent RSCA community vote that was taken on the pool matter in October. More information will follow next year as to how and when residents may obtain pool tags at a select pool under the KSA option for the 2014 season.

-RSCA is working toward development of an agreement with the Harris County Constables office to provide some private security patrols within the neighborhood at RSCA expense. Patrol cars should be visible in the community during certain designated periods. They will be patrolling both RSCA streets and our common area facilities. The Board expects to allocate approximately $15,000 in budget funds for this new safeguard. As you are aware, despite repeated requests to HPD to assign more patrols to the Royal Shores community, particularly on the week-ends, their response has not met the Board’s expectations. The trash/litter deposited and the vandalism experienced at our base amenities has not abated significantly. The Pier, Pond Area, and Gazebos are provided primarily for residents and their guests; although, we can certainly understand non-residents desire to use our facilities on occasion during normal hours provided they do so in an appropriate manner. As another reminder, we would ask each resident to be vigilant within the community and when you observe suspicious, malicious, or criminal activity, we urge you to call the HPD non-emergency line at 713-884-3131 or 911 if there is an emergency or you feel threatened. This also applies to solicitors that might come into the community and disregard our posted signs.

-The rebuilt pier has been completed and the new light and pole will be installed as soon as the custom made pole is delivered to our contractor.

-The next regular Board Meeting will be held on January 23, 2014 at the Reserve Pool Meeting Room at 7 PM.
